BY THE NUMBERS
The Kroger Co. is ninth among the top 15 companies ranked by US ecommerce share, making up 1.4% of total ecommerce sales this year.
Let's look at the current grocery landscape and how Kroger operates within it:
$122.39 billion: The total amount of grocery ecommerce sales this year, increasing 12.3% from 2020, per our forecast. This number will accelerate to $243.67 billion by 2025, with digital sales making up 16.8%. We predict that total grocery ecommerce sales will hit $1.268 trillion this year.
12.7%: Kroger's predicted share of US grocery ecommerce sales this year, totaling $15.02 billion. However, the grocer's ecommerce sales growth has slowed, decreasing by 3.1% year over year (YoY).
2018: The year Kroger partnered with UK-based Ocado to develop automated warehouse facilities, called customer fulfillment centers (CFCs). The retailer opened the first two CFCs in Monroe, Ohio, and Groveland, Florida, this year and has at least 15 additional CFCs planned, two of which will serve areas that don't have brick-and-mortar stores.
$1 billion: The annual sales of Kroger's meal solution brand Home Chef. Founded in 2013, Home Chef merged with Kroger in 2018, and offers more than 500 products across several categories, including meal kits, heat-and-eat meals, ready-to-eat products, and seasonal meals.
$59: The price of the bottom tier of Boost, Kroger's annual membership program, announced in November per the Cincinnati Enquirer. The fee includes double gas points and free grocery delivery within 24 hours. For $99 a year, customers get gas points and free delivery in as little as 2 hours.

Mobile payment providers push for adoption across markets
Proximity mobile payment adoption is increasing even in mature markets like the UK, Canada, and China, where near-universal smartphone and banking penetration make these payments accessible to large swaths of consumers. However, growth rates vary, which is pushing providers to get creative in attracting new users and increasing engagement. But they must contend with shifting consumer habits, changing regulations, and mounting competition, according to Insider Intelligence analyst Jaime Toplin.

FEATURED QUOTE
"Anyone who can create a real community. That's one of the reasons that physical retail shops are so compelling. They smell better than your computer and you can meet people at them and hug hello. I think we are all fed up with Zoom-based dinner parties."
Rikki Landini, managing director at Landini Associates, an international retail design and brand consultancy, on which retailers will win in a post-pandemic world, per the National Retail Federation (NRF).
