| Christening of Prince Julian of Sweden Posted: 14 Aug 2021 07:19 AM PDT Prince Julian Herbert Folke of Sweden, Duke of Halland, the third son of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden, was christened in the Chapel of Drottningholm Palace on August 14th. Prince Julian is the first of the King’s grandchildren who was not born a member of the Swedish Royal House, and while he received a Ducal Title, he will not enjoy the style of Royal Highness and will not be expected to perform Royal Duties. Prince Julian was christened in the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace at noon, in a ceremony officiated by Archbishop Emeritus Anders Wejryd, Bishop Johan Dalman and the Pastor of the Royal Family, Michael Bjerkhagen. Prince Julian’s godparents are Johan Andersson, Stina Andersson, Jacob Högfeldtm Patrick Sommerlath and Frida Vesterberg. After the service, the King bestowed the Order of the Seraphim on his grandson. Later, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a reception at Drottningholm Palace, during which, the Prince laid in King Karl XV's cradle. The Johor Diamond Tiara! The provenance of the piece is unknown but it was likely created in the later half of the 19th century, by Benson’s in London (as discovered by the wonderful Beth).
